This plant was "rescued" from an empty lot and the flower has emerged about 11ft from the ground. Locally it is called a Rulo and the fruit is short and almost rectangular, and eaten when very ripe, freckled and soft.

Apart from the bud there is no pink or red on the plant at all. Sorry for the out of focus pictures and I will get the tall ladder out later for some better shots. If anyone can help with some identification - that would be appreciated.

Is there anything else I can photograph to help identify this beauty - it has put out 7 hands in 3 days. It's dang hard to do while wobbling on the top of a ladder!

Looks to be a Bluggoe type. 'Orinoco' and 'Largo' are belong to this subgroup, I'd bet it's one of those, they are very similar.

Wonderful Gabe - thank you so much. I will post pictures of the fruit later and perhaps you will tell me what you think then.

Gabe - you might be on to something here. I have just been looking up 'Orinoco' (can't find a picture of 'Largo') and they seem to be very similar to my mystery nana. Never thought that's what it could be - they seem to come in 3 sizes here. The smallest about the size of a dc, the medium size I pictured, and a really tall one that my area is too windy for. Tostones and dried banana chips - yum!
