Please post your recommendation for a thorough tissue culture textbook. Graduate-level texts are o.k. In addition to the science, it should practical enough that I could start a small-scale lab. Thanks in advance. :)

The absolute hands down greatest reference: Plants from test tubes, by Lydiane Kyte. Very easy to understand. Less than $20 (Hard Cover) from Amazon.com.
Amazon.com: Used and New: Plants from Test Tubes: An Introduction to Micropropagation (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0881923613/ref=dp_olp_2)
Also, look at a kit from: Kitchen Culture Kits

I have been looking at the Kitchen Culture Kit on the web as well and considering purchasing it to see where I could get with it. I actually just purchased it last night, but I bought Plant Genetic Engineering: Volume 6: Improvement of Fruits; Publisher: Research Periodicals & Books Publishing, Pub 2003, which has an entire chapter on Bananas. I'm unsure of the ease of reading, but I have a science background. This is a website that shows several different distributers, I choose to go with Alibris as I could get the book brand new, and when I signed up, before checking out I found a $5 coupon in my e-mail with a coupon code! Here is that website, just click on "get details" to the left of Albiris, they're already sorted lowest price first on Albiris's Website and the $54 that is first is brand new! Find Plant Genetic Engineering Vol, 1930813155 (http://www.directtextbook.com/prices/1930813155) I'm also highly considering purchasing the other book mentioned above along with teh kitchen culture kit.
I wish each one of you good luck in exploring tissue culture!!!!

I just looked through the amazon online reader for the book "Plants from Test Tubes..." and the closest reference to bananas, plantains, or musa is a plantain lily. Haha But it still looks like a good book for an intro into micropropagation! I think I might still purchase it!
