I'm fairly new to banana plants. Would like to transplant it into bigger pot. What type of soil mixture is best?

any bagged retail ready soil is good like miricle grow. why not plant in the ground and enjoy watching it grow, many are like perenials that come back every year.

You would plant bananas outdoors when it is safe to plant tomatoes and annuals. Our average last frost date in south Jersey here is somewhere between April 15-30. The average is whatever but in reality it is almost always before or after that as the average is made up of extremes. But to be safe, plant out at the same time that you plant tender plants after the risk of frost has passed.

I have to agree with JoeK I always use the weekend before mothers day as an earmark for planting tender plants and tropicals outside. They can take some cold but you dont want to jump the gun.
