Hi

I'm originally from Belgium and moved to Tunisia november 2006
when i came here the garden looked like a desert
Ive started to plant my first banana the Musa Basjoo wich did good in Belgium
Here it has only grown 20 cm allthough he is planted next to the Ice cream and Helens hybrid
These grow fast here
Now i've ordered some seeds and will see if they will germinate here
Unfortunately during wintertime here the temperature was only 5 degrees, wich is cold here, and the grow has stopped
Now spring have started and soon my plants will start growing again
I'm planning to do more experiments with other species
Mybe you can help me to find fresh seeds of rare species
Thanks

So far my introduction

Greetings
Ronny

Ronny, one thing it took me awhile to learn is that edible bananas do not have seeds, and therefore you can't grow them from seeds! You'll need to obtain corms, which folks here can help you with.

Your USDA hardiness zone in Tunisia is either
Zone 11 - if your yearly minimum rarely falls below 4.5 Celsius
Zone 10b - if your yearly minimum rarely falls below 1.5 Celsius

Cheers,
Richard
