I bought a flat rate box of Heliconia latispatha Bentham Orange Gyro rhizomes for $12 plus $9 shipping on e-bay. eBay Store - Pocket Paradise: Heliconia, Art and Oil Paintings, Neomarica Longifolia Iris (http://stores.ebay.com/Pocket-Paradise)
The rhyzomes are HUGE and were dug the day they were shipped. Two of them poked out new growth from the stalks while they were in transit through the mail. I wish I had taken a picture before I potted them up. The rhizomes are enormous. The growing heliconia in the picture is a Heliconia Lingulata Red Tip Fan. The big stumps poking out of the black pots are the 'Orange Gyro'. In all there were 6 rhizomes. One of them had 3 stalks and one of them had none. I could only fit 2 rhizomes per 3gal pot. Oh, the plant in the green pot is an Epiphyllum oxypetalum. For some reason I cannot get this picture to rotate in my photo software. Sorry about that.
