Hi

I am in Georgia zone 7a, I have only musa Basjoo in the ground and would like to buy something else.
One of my customers has these huge bananas which come back every year. After researching heavily I came to the conclusion that they were musa Itinerans (She doesn't know what they are).
So I researched bananas.org further and think I need musa Itinerans var itinerans for my zone.
I searched the web and the for sale forum here but can't find corms. I found seeds for regular musa itinerans or Burmese blue on Ebay.

Thxs for the help

Patrick

Where in Georgia are you located? I'm up near Chattanooga. I'm not sure which form of itinerans I have (I had three but the way itinerans runs one might have died off and I wouldn't know). I definitely have two forms though. If you are ever up this way you can have one for free. They pop up all over the place...probably more than usual after this mild winter.

Thanks so much for the offer. I am in Canton in Cherokee county. I never go up there unfortunately, it's a little over 1H30 each way.
Is there anyway you could ship one? I off course will pay shipping and your gas too.
I have only musa Basjoo right now, and I want to add other hardy varieties like musa Velutina, musa Sikkimensis and the Itinerans, maybe the Orinoco too. Lasiocarpa is a little too small I find.
Where do you buy your bananas?

Thanks

Pat

I got them all from people that I know except for sikkimensis. That one I grew from seed. I have ornata that even survived our last two cold winters...even down to -4F with only mulch for protection. I had velutina but some of my aggressive plants crowded it out. I'll think about possibly shipping.

That's really kind of you. What is ornate I have never heard of it? Maybe I should try Sikkimensis from seeds too.

Ornata looks like a larger version of velutina.

I researched that ornata. It look interesting. One guy on amazon sells the corm for $34 with free shipping. Is that good?
Are all your bananas out yet? My 2 musa Basjoo are doing great, one is pushing 3 feet tall already.

Thanks

I don't know. I always get them for free and then give them away for free. It might be worth your while to drive up! I think everything is coming up, but just from ground level.

I might come after all, that's so kind of you. Do you have other hardy types available? I am available Saturday the 23rd, is that too early?

Thanks
