I have two banana tree's growing by my pool and I have noticed the leaves are not growing back as before. I peeled the old stalk back and when broke open I found small white worms coming out. Is there any way to kill these and save my tree's from dieing?

So they are worms and not insects? Worms may need a nematacide maybe.

I find worms on my plants when I pull back the dead leaves from the stalk. Usually closer to the brown area.

I would think if the worm is doing damage to the plant. You would find them eating hole into the stalk. There might be something else going on with the corm.

Having said the worm is white, I am unsure what it may be. When I think white worms I think Grubs and Tape worms. Can you post a pic of this worm?

My neighbor has the same trees and he said I need to cut down the tops of the tree so they would grow new leaves. I live in zone 8a and he said that the tops were dead and need cut back. The rest of the stalk looks great. We actually cut off the newer growth and transplanted them in the yard to grow more trees. I was told to get 6-2-12 granule fertilizer for them, but I cannot find that type anywhere. Can you recommend what is a good kind of fertilizer to get for my tree's please?

My all time favorite chemical fertilizer is this LESCO 50 lbs. 8-10-10 Landscape and Ornamental Fertilizer 080227 at The Home Depot - Mobile (http://m.homedepot.com/p/LESCO-8-10-10-Landscape-and-Ornamental-Fertilizer-080227/100330742).

Runs $35 for 50 pounds but is loaded with minors and is very long lasting. I also use to boost small trees.

My new all time favorite organic fertilizer is this Shop Jobe's Organics 6-lb Tomato and Vegetable Granules at Lowe's (http://m.lowes.com/pd/Jobe's-Organics-6-lb-Tomato-and-Vegetable-Granules/3562424)

I have been getting high quality results with this organic fertilizer. What makes it my favorite is that they now have it in a big bag and lowered the price. I can now drive to Lowe's and get an inoculated organic without drive 80 miles to my nearest hydro store. I was skeptical but this stuff is awesome. Needs mixed in the top 5 inches so the microbes don't die in the sun.

My other favorite is this Xtreme Gardening (http://www.xtreme-gardening.com/) they are not budget friendly but I get great results with everything they sell.
