Spring is almost here ! My Maurelii have all been sending out new growth for a few weeks now and today I noticed an ornata doing the same .
Alocasia calidora is putting on some new groth as well .
And,of course , all the trees are starting to bloom or bud out and the daffys and paperwhites are blooming. I'm in zone 8 .
So, what's going on in your neck of the woods?

All my bananas survived except for a small Helens Hybrid.
I had only Basjoo, Ice Cream and Lasiocarpa dormant, Basjoo is growing and so does Lasiocarpa
Ice Cream does nothing in the GH but looks okay.

10b everything moving along just fine, the cold snap we had a couple weeks ago was a setback but blooms are appearing on some heliconias and some bromeliads. A pair of Sabas are blooming now as are a RajaPuri and a Grand Nain. I just cut down some almost ripe Ice Cream fruits and have another still hanging. Papaya just finishing harvest time as well. Sugarcane is growing fantastic and some orchids just got done blooming as well. Cant wait for the real thing (Spring that is).

Nice day here today, about 73F or so in my yard. Banana-wise though, nothing is moving outside yet. It was March 13th that Musa yunnanensis emerged last year though, so shouldn't be long now! Lots of daffodils blooming here now, Winter Jasmine has been putting on a show, Forsythias are blooming as well. Red Maples are blooming too. Spring is right around the corner!

tulips, daffies, yellow star jasmine, the roses are fixing to leaf out in a week or two. my willow bush is getting leaves. all the nanas and everything else are doing great. it was 70 here today, but the winds are blowing really hard tonight.they are calling for rain after midnight and possible snow this week. after 2 days in fl w/ the temp in the 70's this kind of hurts.

The first of my Raja Puris has broken dormancy and is pushing up a new leaf. the other has just started to push and I expect to see green before Friday.
There is nothing outside that is showing any growth yet as we are about a month before spring and still have up to 2' of snow on the ground. My wisteria has not had the buds start to plump, which is good. Last year a late March freeze killed all of the buds.
The palms, Yuccas and cycads in my shelter have come through the winter in good shape.

Well, the frost this year (Houston) pretty much took all the leaves of my two nanas, and then the new 6 month old Lab pup finished them off. One right down to ground level - but a week later he has a new leaf sprouting!! They never seemed to go totally dormant - the one which was left about a foot high has a nice full leaf opening.

My Rajapuri's been growing steadily for about 2 weeks now, albeit slowly. Now that our night temps seem to be holding steady around 50F, I think it should be picking up speed soon.

I have a dwarf red (my current favorite) that has been pushing out new growth all winter. Just as soon as a new pup would start though the cold or something would knock it back.
Yesterday, I saw that one of the remaining 2 pups, was sickly.
While I was clearing out the ton of oakleaves that fell into my garden, I failed to notice that I stepped on a barely visible new pup on the RD. :2141:
My praying hands out of the blue, popped up a new pup a week or two after the freeze. It is doing GREAT! :0489:
I lost my 7' unkown in the freeze, but it has 4 x 1'1/2 pups doing well.
Nothing new on the orinco and the ladyfinger.

Hey ya'll,
I have goldfingers (FHIA-1) and a pisang klotek. They are all out of the ground right now overwintered. The goldfingers are starting to shoot a leaf or two. There is even a pup forming on one of the corms. Not sure when that happened. Was not there when I dug that one up. The p klotek is shooting a leaf as well. Getting pretty pumped for a great growing season.
