Anyone heard of this? I saw it at a local nursery in Corpus Christi? I think its just a musa basjoo.

Ok, its not basjoo, it had a purple influresense

I would have to say my guess is Orinoco, it is common, it can be grown in Texas, and it fruits. Basjoo does not fruit and as you said, not purple, but a yellow inflorescence. Also, Orinoco is a river, but that is in Colombia/Venezuela so that wouldn't be a factor. Experts?

It could be orinoco. There are several ones around. I know I've seen several different once in the Austin and San Antonio area.

Orinoco is the safe bet, but anyfruiting banana could be grown in the Corpus area so I don't think we can say for certain.
