Hi,

I have recently purchased one house and a large yard in Brazil in Lucianópolis. I want to plant "Ice Cream" and many other banana varieties there. The dad of my guest daughter will help me and plant the corms, he is a former banana farmer. :hiiiiyanana: He will also plant pups of "Nanica", "Prata", "Ouro" and "Maca". And I have now one pup of "Prata" here in Germany, brought from Braszil.

Are there banana nurseries, which will ship to Brazil???

Best wishes

Hi,

I will ask Agristarts, whether they do ship to South America (Brazil), too.

Best wishes.

Many wonderful cold hardy bananas originated from Brazil, and there should be more diversity in Brazil than the US. So I was surprised that you are asking shipment of bananas to Brazil, I would have thought of the other way around.

Perhaps you needed to find local supplier. Brazil is huge country. I know there are tissue-culture facilities like Agri-Starts in Brazil. Some of their sugar cane plantings are from tissue culture, at least in one scientific publication that I read.

Hi,

yes. I'm also looking for local suppliers in Brazil. Do you know links and websites of the Brazilian local suppliers of bananas in English and Portuguese. I speak some Portuguese now. I need to get to know banana suppliers in Brazil for Ice Cream, Thousand Fingers, Praying Hands, Saba, Ele Ele, Ensete ventricosum, Musa basjoo, sikkimensis, velutina and others. This will even be easier for Antonio in Brazil. If you do give me links and websites of banana suppliers in Brazil, then I will ask there and will order there and request there to ship to Antonio. It will be even more cheaper.

I will keep that in mind. One of the University of California retired professor is a friend of mine and he has a big land in Brazil. If I don't forget, I'll ask him about that.

Thanks! :flouenaner: I hope, that the retired professor who also has land in Brazil, does know banana suppliers in Brazil which can ship to Lucianópolis/São Paulo.

Hi Joachim

Just a suggestion but you could just ship 1 of each plant you want over and then put them into tissue culture in Brazil.

Re-potted 30 odd Basjoo today. They're loving the warmer temps were having this week.:2791:

Hi, now the former owner of my house and yard in Brasil has got my money. Now the former owner will prepare the documents and papers for my house and yard, so that I will own my house and yard! Now I can begin with my banana garden project. I also asked Agristarts for shipping to Brazil. Yes, Agristarts could do, because it did ship young banana plants to Chile successfully, the plants arrived in Chile unharmed. But in the moment Agristarts doesn't have Ice Cream, Praying, Saba, Ele Ele and Thousand Fingers in the stock until end of June. But I will book the next travel for 23rd August to 20th September today. I hope, that Agristarts will have the missed bananas from end of June on, so that I will order in July and then Agristarts will send the plants to Brazil, so that I will get the shipment in the first days of my travel in Brazil, so that I will plant them in Brazil.

@JoeReal - did you ask the professor about banana sources in Brazil for Thousand Fingers, Ice Cream, Saba, Ele Ele, Dwarf Red, Praying Hands, FHIA cultivars and more others???

Best wishes
