Hello Fellow Bananas, discovered this URL from web search. I'm from Singapore and have been growing Pisang Rajah for quite sometime now. Decided to acquire indepth knowledge on growing and caring for bananas particularly Pisang Rajahs. Planted a sapling from my mother's house sometime ago and have just harvested 5 combs of the fruit.
Growing bananas without in depth knowledge has its limitations. For example, not knowing what Pisang Rajah likes and dislikes and techniques to induce fruiting leads to high dependency on nature to take its course. It takes roughly 115 days from flower to harvest (first sighting of a yellow banana) and maximum number of combs not exceeding 6/7. Have seen in the market place huge trunk of bananas exceeding 12 combs.
Would love to learn from this community techniques to apply on growing bananas especially Pisang Rajah. Perhaps, who knows, may even venture to other species of bananas in the long run.
I'm a self taught horticulturist and it is my hobby to grow fruit trees and herbs. I'm also very interested in techniques to grow mangoes. How to make mango trees fruit readily has always baffled me.
Hope to learn from this community and to be intimately familiar with bananas.
