A dwarf or super dwarf?
I lucked out and got two for $10.97. Should I keep it inside until March or do you think it would be ok to stay outside? I live in North Cali and this time of year it gets down to about 40-Degrees at night and stay above 60 during the day. Frost season is over.

Congrats on your warf cavendish!
That's one of the least hardy banana-cultivar there is (although a few others are less hardy). I would wait til atleast early march before exposing it to the elements.

Thanks a bunch mrbungalow.
It's in an 8" pot now. Thats what it came in. I have a 10" on hand would it be ok to transplant it into that pot? Right now it looks like a 8" pot of all root no soil with a little sucker coming up,LOL.

As mark said; The bigger the pot the better. If you could put it in a large pot, let the rootmass grow big, and then put it outside in late march you would have a major advantage. That hot CA sun will make leaves transpire water fast, and having a large rootsystem would make the "weaning off" easier. It's almost guaranteed that the sun will scorch the leaves, but new, suntolerant leaves will grow out fast!!
Good luck,
It's amazing how fast they grow, roots too.

OK guys its been 25 days since I bought this banana and I can't believe how it is growing. It's been putting out like 2 leaves a week. When one leaf starts to open the in another one is up waiting its turn to open, and chec out the sucker it was about 1" when I got the plant and now it stands boasting like 4 plus inches. I need to repot this thing in a bigger pot. I really hope this plant bears some fruit for me. Take a look:

:raftingnaner:Be patient and leave the plant in the existing pot till it gets a little warmer, then move it outside to a shady area to acclimate the leaves to the sun. This will decrease the risk of scorched leaves. Once ready (maybe 1 or 2 weeks) place in the ground in rich compost enriched soil and stand back. Good luck.:bananas_b
