how benificial are banana plants for bees and wasps , i ask this question because we had massive colony's that died without any reason.

their population is slowly recovering.

im landscaping a large terrain with alot of plants that are benificial for bees and birds, plants like gingers , canna's, buddelja daviddi, helleborus, hardy hibiscus, bamboo's, camelia's, indian and himalayan impatiens and alot of other native and exotic species almost all are evergreen and alot of these are able to cross polinate.

the first stage of landscaping is complete we have nitrogen fixing plants installed, and other basic grasses, small herbals, moss, swamp plants.
next stage is planting non-invasive bamboo's and other shrubs to make wind shields and partial shady spots.

it is also a experiment, we want to create a rare habitat of exotics, palms and especially plants that are endangered

as a starting banana grower ( started in oktober 2008 ) i have no idea how benificial banana's are for birds and insect because it can be difficult to have one blooming in this climate.
