Hi to everyone, I'm new to this forum, wish I had discovered it earlier.
I just got hit with a really nasty "freeze event" which has lasted at two days, with lows in the low teens and highs in the mid thirties. In anticipation of this freeze, I wrapped my bananas in either burlap and or insulated air-conditioning duct (rather expensive, I did this last year). Anyway, when I went out this afternoon to check for damage, I felt to see of the p-stems were still firm -- and they were firm all right, but only because they were frozen! So here is the dumb question: will the p-stems spring back from this freeze, or are they a loss? And, will frozen p-stems be an impediment to any emerging bananas next spring? That is, should I cut them down now? Thanks in advance.
