It's almost time to start vegetable seedlings and I'm pondering which melons to grow this year. Crenshaw is a family favorite and we'll definately grow that. Has anyone tried Charentais? What is a "must grow" melon in your garden?

Unfortunately, the humidity trashed all the melons I've tried here. I would love to be able to grow Crenshaws!

I haven't decided if I'm going to grow any melons, yet. I do have some seed, but have limited space in the garden.

Same problem here. They just take sooo much space to grow!

Have a trellis or wire mesh next to a fence? You can grow the climbing variety, such as "Climbing Sugar Melon" aka Rampicante Zuccherino.

If the problem is fruit rot, that's a tragedy. If it is from humidity-generated mildew, I control that with pre-emptive strikes of Spectrum Immunox.
