The Indian superbum is fairly easy from seed. I'd reccommend trying from seed since they are neary impossible to find as a plant, and the few times I have seen them they have been spendy. Rare palm seeds has seeds, as well as georgiavines.

I have 100 seeds planted ,they have been planted now for about 3 months and only one came up and that happened within the first 2 weeks of planting,,so I dont know maybe the rest are bad???I did the float test on them half sank and the other half floated,,thats what I do with all my palm seeds, but am not sure if you can do that with banana seeds to tell if their good or bad! soaked all the seeds for 2 days nicked half, and microwaved for 3 seconds the other half just trying to see different results,on what works best!!

The first time I tried E.superbum(Indian) i ordered 10 seeds and had all ten come up. The next time I tried I only had about 10% come up so I don't know, it may have had something to do with freshness.
Jason- was yours the large type from Western India? If it was the smaller type(Thailand), they are really tough to germinate. I wouldn't reccommend microwaving seed.

Yes the seeds are the Thailand species,,you can microwave you just have to be careful not to cook them real easy to do to,,ive done it,,LOL I germinate all sorts of different seeds some that are hard and always have had good luck, but I do feel that the superbum is gona be my first seed that I had not good results !! Thanks for your input-Jason.Wish I could find someone who has a method to germinating these seeds,,ive looked!! no such luck!!!

Once in a while a seller on e-bay sells live foot tall plants. They are the smaller thai form. Bought one 2 years ago. So far so good.

If you want the easy sprouting ones you got to try the larger Indian type.

Chucked my E-bay Sb seeds today and ordered 100 from The Banana Tree. Bought a Terrarium also which should also help with the humidity level.:2236:
