So much for passing up my house. It's rained a 1/2 inch so far and the snow line in the local mountains was down to 4,000 feet (1200 meters).

We've got lots of ducks around here but even more geese. I don't remember seeing so many geese around here in all of my life. Fish & Game officials actually re-opened the hunting season for another weekend a couple of weeks ago because they considered populations of some species to be higher than sustainable levels.

Had my 31st morning with frost (moderate amount) this morning. My thermometer is still in my greenhouse (got down to 51F there) so I don't know how cold it was outside, but AccuWeather reported at about 7am that it was 32F. Usually it's been warmer than the lows they've reported.

Daytime weather was very spring-like with a high of 67.

No kidding. Right now, wind 25 mph with 35 mph gusts. All foliage taller than "wall height" (8') is shredded and there are some bare midribs where the blade has been stripped off. But that's the result of several windy days over the last several months.

I wish there were more dwarf varieties that didn't mind cool weather. Dwarf Namwah, Rajapuri, dwarf Brazilian (which isn't much of a dwarf), and dwarf Orinico seem to be the main ones. Dwarf Mysore and Silk would be nice!

Or at least it seems like it. Im only 2 blocks away from the ocean where I live and it seems like the hotter it gets inland (80s in areas like Chicago and DC), the colder and especially foggier it gets here (got to 61F today). We're about 25% of normal here for rain, Ante. Our first significant rain since last fall was about two weeks ago.

The so-called Miracle March of 1991 resulted in a lot of rain following a very dry winter that helped fill up our reservoirs here in California. I don't think that we're going to get enough to match that but this is very welcome although it's harmful to our fruits that are blooming now (cherries, peaches, etc.).

Strange huh? I originally thought that everything happened earlier down in SD for you, but maybe it's largely differences among cultivars. My apricots also set (just a few fruit, but I only planted them last year) before the storm. Early peach varieties (e.g., May Pride) have already all set locally. My peach and nectarine must be later (but unknown) varieties.

Even though Nicaragua is in the northern hemisphere they don't seem to use the same seasonal calendar as us in the U.S. They say it is now summer there as they have hot dry weather now and by May the weather is cooler with rains. To all that are getting rain: Be kind, send some my way.

Dry last year, dry the year before, looking to be a dry year this year...
Iv had to actually water my established trees this winter.
So few cold fronts went by to drop off some rain...

Hopefully Florida, at least in my area, has a nice wet summer.. GOOD wet though!! Not bad storm, hurricane wet!!

Had below freezing temps last night. Some of the bananas that were beginning to unfurl their leaves have cold damage. But my Brown Turkey fig's new leaves look fine, the Kwanzen Cherry blossoms are still opening. My daffs look like they need a hot bath. And after I did some more pond maintenance in cold water, so do I.

I like those days that are nice and overcast, just after its rained, maybe still sprinkling a little.
I go and stand out amongst my trees and just watch everything, and enjoy the cleaned air...

Had a day like that just last week, lovely. The first since January.
Today: went out and everything the garden was wilted to the ground, forgot to turn on the drip system... I think I killed my peas a month early. :(

I think I need to move my thermometer. I have it under a large lemon tree and that probably traps heat from the ground. I maybe will build one of those fancy weather station houses. It must have been colder than 40.4F this morning to have frost. I built the copula that sits on my garage and can build something similar for my thermometer.

Got so cool I had to wear long pants to go out to dinner this evening. Had to find them first.

Es ist zu heiß hier! =( Ich wünschte, es würde mehr Schnee fallen.

Its 18* here (65f) and more rain starts tonight. Its too cold to plant anything outside and its too warm too snow. =(

With typical British reserve I notice that it has been damp here too - 6.6 inches in 4 hours and 11.1 inches overall in 16 hours - add to that the 2.5 from the night before, and there is no need to water the garden today!:ha:
No storm - just tropical rain and the temperature a cool 78f/26c. The frogs are happy, the dogs are not.

Damp indeed! LOL

Haha Richard, that depends on the tour and guide.

It depends, like Soap said.

Here it comes ... the wind is picking up now and the rain will follow later tonight. Perhaps I won't have to water my plants tomorrow!

Rain sort of fizzled out here, maybe a 10th. Hope you get more down there. What's with that front that goes from Montana through South Dakota?

You know you live in a good place if a daytime high of 75 feels like February! :nanadrink:

One day I hope to move further south. Give me 85-90 every day. I'm the odd person that likes summer in Florida.

Never mind, it actually rained more tonight than it did earlier in the day. No need of watering things yet!

No, I don't like pants. Long -- that is.

When one moves to south Florida all the winter stuff goes to Goodwill or the trash. No more "cheap hotel" duds.

Visits up north are in summer only. Like snowbirds - in reverse.

Aside from the occasional 40 mph gust of wind which shredded more leaves, we had great weather for bananas yesterday. Felt tropical by our standards: high of 83, low of 56, humid, and a bit of rain. Felt more like August than April.

I had a 1/3 of an inch of rain overnight. Came down steady over a long period so it soaked in well. I'm sure my plants in the ground are very happy with it, although probably very little found its way into my 1100 leafed-out plants in 5 gallon pots. I'll be attending to them today and tomorrow.

Rain is forecast every day for the next few days. I am trying to figure out if the rainy season just started. Accuweather says no, but anything beyond 7 days is not believable.
