Hello. I'm a new potential banana grower from Oklahoma.
I know enough to safely say that I know nothing about tropicals.
My passion the past few years has been ribes (gooseberries and currants) and getting them to grow in my little micro climates.
I'm working on a "rhubarb project" to figure out how to keep this cold-lover alive in my 100+ dry summer days. Bananas may represent the opposite challenge. I am big over-planner and a slow mover. One of my goals is a poolside banana area like those I saw when I spent a few years in Tampa/Plant City/Lakeland, FL.
I have already learned a lot and I want to thank you all for that. Oh, and I don't like to grow things that don't feed me. :) No flower is more beautiful then a full belly as far as I'm concerned.
My interest started from reading the Dan Koeppel book "Banana".
Thanks Again,
-Yo
