I planted my ladyfinger on October 2nd last year, and it produced 1 small leaf which hung on for about 3 months while getting browner and sadder. The pseudostem turned pulpy and brown and eventually the whole visible part of the plant died down. As the whole process took so long, I kept hoping that the corm was doing something good. And yesterday while I was carefully investigating the mulch, I found a little pup - like a phoenix from the ashes!!! As soon as husband returns with the camera I will post a pic. Hurray - after 4 months and the wait has been worth it.

Casiie:
Can you guess what is the sensitivity to frost of the lady finger. I just bought one from Logee's together with super dwarf cavendish and I am planning to plant them in my plat this spring. They are now growing nice inside my patio.

At a guess - not very frost hardy at all - but someone here will know! I never have the chance to test that sort of thing! lol! Good luck with your new plants.

So glad I resisted the temptation to dig it up "just for a look"! I know they are tough but this one surprised me.

Congrats, reminds me of the appropriateness of Jon's (pitangadiego) comment "never give up". See number 6 at http://webebananas.com/culture.html.
Thanks for the update!
