I have just added the Expert Member system.
I have just assigned the first round of plaques as well! :2738:

If I missed someone you feel should be assigned the plaque, even if that means yourself, please send me a private message! We aim to offer recognition where deserved but I did not go through each and every member, I briefly reviewed a few threads, parts of the memberlist, and other metrics, to determine the first set. Essentially I need a break and so I have stopped assigning plaques where I did. If I should assign one to someone you think I missed, please let me know. This is meant to be a fun system and if anybody's feelings get hurt, we will either remedy the situation or delete the system entirely. At this point is is an experiment, designed as part of the replacing of the automatic user titles we just did away with, if you caught that recent discussion you will know what I'm talking about...

I hope you guys enjoy this system and I hope to be assigning more plaques as members get known and nominated by our peers.
I will be adding more text to some places and rearranging things perhaps, maybe even redesigning the plaque itself, but for now I got it working and its fantastic the way the overall system came out, in my humble opinion. Most of it is in the behind-the-scenes area but it is quite user-friendly for the administration team to use. I really think this will be a great, fun addition to our community. I would like to reiterate that if feelings get hurt or it causes problems, I will have no problem reverting back to not having it. I want it to be fun.

If you have any feedback or other comments, nominations, etc., feel free to post here or send them via PM.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Nate,

Yes! To generate a current list at any time, visit the members list link in the navigation bar towards the top of the page.

Then click to open the "Search Members" fold out menu.

Then click "Advanced Search".

On that next page, just select "Yes" for "Expert Member" and click submit! All the experts will then be displayed.

Also, from any page on the members list, the far right column will identify them.

Thanks Jarred.
A list would also be nice, and like Bikoro Child said, for a reliable answer. It'll be interesting to see when certain people get theirs and why.

Hey - we can add a plaque for "New Grower" if you guys think it will be fun and/or utilized.

That one we can setup so people can allocate it to themselves on their own.

Thoughts?

Jarred:
Yes, that's a good idea. Many people will be delighted to put it on their names. That's one way of recognizing them.
Go for it!

Good idea Jarred. But should it be stretched to fit that entire spot it has right now...as in rectangular or ovular instead of circlular?

And what do us middle guys get?
All for fun-
Taylor

Good question. I wouldn't by any means classify myself an expert but not a new grower either. Maybe a mid level . I think there's a LOT of those on here.-Nate:choochoo::choochoo::choochoo::choochoo::choochoo:

Personally I like it that way color scheme and all. That's an A+ grade with me.
Sort of the same color and medals my kids got as a first place winner in Karate World Class Tournament a couple of years ago. ( Now I am bragging eh!).

Hey Jarred, I like the expert and beginner badges, but as natedogg1026 stated, a middle entry would be nice as well. There's such a large space between beginner and expert. Something like Intermediate Grower? How 'bout a fiend badge for th...

oh, that won't work, were all fiends...

OK, sure, I can add an intermediate badge. Not a bad suggestion! Thanks!

Neat idea Jarred ... I'm not sure about your spelling though ... but I for one certainly do qualify as an x-spurt!
x = unknown
spurt = small squirt (NOT to be confused with "drip":) )

Maybe something like 'Distinguished Visitor', or 'Banana Apprentice', or 'Regular', or maybe 'The Posse' :2721:

'The Asylum' is already taken...:2623:

Yeah. Because I always heard that an "expert" was a "drip under pressure". (I may be dating myself.)

How does one leave the category of a nut job who loves to grow many plants to becoming an expert grower? It has been said that the difference between a novice grower and an expert is the size of their compost heap and trust me I have over the years contributed to my compost heap>.:2750::2750::2750:

If anyone would like to nominate anyone else or even themself, please let me know! I have a feeling theres many more experts floating around here lately. Some member choose to be in stealth mode, but for those that like it, lets get your plaque up! Send me a private message or post here!
