Hi all ,
I have a very young coccinea (t/c) with 6-7" of p-stem . It has a very small pup on it that could be a seedling from a stray seed . If this is the case ,I will want to get it out of there before it roots all around my plant.

I appreciate any input .

Hey Pete,
More than likely, if it was a stray seed that you accidentally threw in there (am I understanding?) it probably wouldn't be right beside a TC plant in the space of a pup. Some TC pup like crazy, so I think it is a pup, not a seedling.

Dig around the base and check to make sure...

Congrats!

Looks like a pup to me. Its not unusual for TC plants to pup rather early.

The thing is that I don't want to disturb the plant . It's one of only two that survived and the other is not doing well . It really looks like a seedling to me but it's proximity suggest a pup .
I have various Musa and Ensete seeds scattered throughout my soil pile (long story) so I can't rule out either scenario .
These plants, however, should have been potted in a new mix . Still , anything is possible .
