I guess people just don't understand the laws, or maybe they have the stereo on so loud they can't hear anything. I see people never minding emergency vehicles all the time here in Los Angeles. I even have a friend who was rear ended really hard with his young daughter in the car after attempting to slow down and move to the right for a fire truck. He got pretty banged up with several broken ribs and bruised lungs. His daughter was fine with no injuries, but the air bag powder was hell on her asthma.

These kinds of things happen all the time it seems... an Oklahoma State Trooper's vehicle was creamed not too long ago... he was sitting on the side of the highway doing a report on an abandoned SUV that had rolled over.
He had his emergency lights activated and was pulled a good way out of the lane of traffic. Luckily he did not sustain any serious injuries... and my firefighters were on scene to provide aid and traffic control.
Be safe out there Dan.

thanks guys
this wreck hits close to home as I work with them, but hurts when any of the first responders hurt or kill wether police, fire or EMS coz they are part of the family, they feel like brothers or sisters.
some of the newer cars have so much sound damping now (due to no frame anymore)to block road noise its hard to much of anything else too, let alone a stereo jamming, or phone

I think a lot of the problems are people look whats going on and they have a tendency to drive off in the direction they are looking. People just need to pay attention to the road.
