Hello all,
I've seen this on other forums and I thought it would be cool because I've never seen it done with Bananas before! The concept is that those in warm climates can provide some pictures (just for fun) of their Bananas growing in their yard. This will give us in the cold a little hope and entertainment for the time being.
And so nobody is left out, us in the cold can post pictures of the snow or just anything interesting. Such as snow, protected palms, icicles, etc, just to name a few.
Ill post pictures of the 'snow' soon, but right now everytime I try to post pictures I lose internet connection.
Have fun! :0521:

Ok Taylor: since you wanted pictures of January in warmer climates, here's two pictures from webcams down-under. The first is from Hobart Tasmania, the 2nd from Perth, both in the AM on 01/24/2008.

Hello everyones,
This is a winter picture of the snow covered The Fujiyama/Mt.Fuji of 3,776m,
the highest mountains in this country.

Very nice picture.
Do live in Japan?
My recollection of Japan was for every inch of soil there be it in the mountain or in front of their house they plant something useful or turn them into a park like scenery. Still the mountain is breathtaking.

Daen: I love your first picture! Reminds me of cotton candy!
Winter here in Mtl has been kinda weird. We had so far 3 snowstorms all followed by warm temps (near/above 0C) since winter started, which was maybe 2 months ago. I can't wait for spring!

This is my tallest plant and I'm hoping for a flag soon so that I can get some idea of what sort it is. I liberated a pup from a stand near the beach where the fruit is always picked well before it is ready. The ragged leaves show the sort of weather we have had over the winter.

These 2 dwarf cavendish types are coming on - as they are still fairly small, their leaves are protected from the wind by the walls and palms

The apple is markedly more slender than some of the others.

This baby is the orphan from the lagoon which has finally decided to start growing properly, and seems to have lost its red leaf markings. Another mystery nana!

Ladyfinger not doing at all well. I keep hoping that it will suddenly produce a pup as the one leaf it originally had stayed green for about 2 months.

Well - I don't deserve praise for the yard as the dang stuff practically grows itself!! Folks in cooler climes who succeed against all odds to produce stunning plants are the superstars!! Hats off to them!

cassie, dont you weed your yard? cut the grass and fet the plants? i would say that you do deserve some recognition. and i tell you what, people who grow tropicals farther north then i am, kudos to yall. i dont know how you do it. and yes they do need positive recognition for doing what they say cant be done. yall are the greatest.

Well Austin - I am relying on the fact that nanas are tough and hard to kill, although with all the rain we had, it did stay pretty wet there for a while (11.2 inches in a week and one day we had 6.8 inches in 24 hours). haha!! I had to keep going out to empty the raingauge as it was getting near the top. But now it is dry and getting warmer - hooray!
