I surrounded my nanas with some good composted horse manure - and the roots surprised me by growing upwards through it into the open air rather than underneath it.

The roots have now disappeared beneath the soil!!!

mskitty - the more pups the better - I have folks waiting on pups from my better plants so i am happy to spread them around. My red banana which has not yet fruited (all my plants are newish) has 5 pups and most of the others have at least 3 - even the orphan from the lagoon has 2 pups and she is only a baby herself!!! Heaven knows what will happen when the weather warms up from its present 78f - but what I am really looking for on the big plants are flags!!

Cassie,
I want to start a thread of winter pictures from tropical places where there are still growing plants, just to give us cold people some entertainment, hope, and something to talk about. Would you be able to post pictures if I did so?
Thanks-

Thanks Taylor - all the pups (and I have a lot) are looking good - almost all sword type.

Taylor - of course I would be happy to do so. Atm we are suffering from all the rain and cold (lol) so plants are not moving much but that should change soon. Start the thread and I am sure we can find plenty to post there.
