In research reports -- 2 of them from the Phillipines, I have read that Cardaba is BBB and white-fleshed. Since Cardaba is a sport of Saba that occurred in the Phillipines, this seems o.k. But then there are reports from other researchers that Cardaba is ABB and orange-fleshed. Are they really talking about the same banana, or perhaps a sport of the sport?

My observation is ABB with white flesh unripe, slightly orange fully ripe.

BBB was a mistake/non confirmed status, it is now confirmed ABB and in addition there are still no (as far as Iʻve seen) confirmed BBB landraces. Also, there are many different varieties of Saba, some may have more orange in the flesh than others.

back in the early 80's I bought a place with many bananas already on it. the first couple of bunches I cut down a hair to early. I like my store bought bananas on the green side, ok very green. any ways the meat was orange and had an excellent taste, way better than store bought. thought about dehydrating them with a little honey. the next ones I waited until I saw yellow and the meat was white. then I cut them down. ..... well this is a navy town with many bases, could have been more than one variety flown from anywhere. father inlaw is retired navy and talked about bringing things into Jacksonville from any place all you had to know is who to talk to. could be there were more than one variety on the place. the house was built in the early 50's. 2008 was along time ago. thanks richard
