:11: Hello All,

New to this , however I have been practicing germinating palms mostly for a year now. I have managed to germinate Ensete Ventricosum and Musa Sikimensis, not many though and unlike my palms I still dont know how to do this regularly - seems a bit of luck. I will post photo's when I have them, just bought a greenhouse so this year will prove better I hope!!
Can any UK growers advise at what size I can place bananas outside and at what times of year. I only have 1 outside currently but I bought this large so unsure of the norm?

thanks,

Doug

Hi Doug and welcome aboard, ther are many members from the UK here,
so i am sure they can answer your questions regarding the UK-climate as
I think it also depends on where you are in the UK.

Hi Doug, welcome

Im in hartlepool (north east) and I planted 2 different baby banana plants in my back garden just after easter last year. They had grown to about 4 1/2 feet when I dug them up end November and put them in my shed for winter. They are doing fine in there. I will plant them out again it warms up about april. I found them very low maintenance.

Cheers
