We have had 8 inches of rain in 3 days and it is still pouring. The ground is so saturated that there is nowhere for it to drain to as you can see. The road is a river but it has been much higher!

It is very dark at midday and we might lose power soon as the lights are flicking, but we have a 12kw generator with enough diesel for 40 days. After Olga we had no mains power for 50 hours.

I saw a report recently that the Dominican Republic might become a desert in 20 years if global warming continues - fat chance - where do they get these experts?

Yes - I was just making a joke really - it is the rainy season here at the moment and we always get rain like this. This is nothing special - just trying to cheer up the folks buried in snow.

Thanks Cassie.

The pics made me feel better. I have nothing to complain about as we are in the middle of a mild spell with highs about -3*C and lows about -10*C. We could be getting -20 to -30*C.

Its storming and raining like hell here too. We had some frosts in december,
but nothing special and there is no frost predicted for the coming 7 days.
Except for nightfrosts normally the winter is over in march, my nanas
in the cold GH are doing well without additional heath.

Ron - glad to hear the nanas are doing well - long time til spring!

Allen - Alberta must be about the coldest place to grow nanas apart from Norway - do you have triple glazing and constant mains power? Or is it more woodburning stoves - don't know if you are in the town or country.
