Hello everyone I have aquired two banana trees over the years and they are still only about 6 feet tall. I have never done anything to them in the winter and they survive just fine but I wondering if they would grow taller if i cut them down or put them under my house? Where I live it only freezes about twice a year. Thanks for any help!

Hughlegit, If you don't have to dig em up, i'd leave em. There's a chance you could loose em putting them under the house. You also need to cosider that some varieties don't get very tall. If they flower then they are about as big as they are gonna get, most of the time. I don't see any benifit in cutting them down or putting them under the house. Hope this helps.--Nate:guitarris :2720: :guitarris

do you fertilize them and give you on hot days every day much water?
if you do that they will grow much faster;)

If you cut them down they will give you lesser bunches when they fruit. Most of my bananas are the dwarf kind. 6 feet or under.

They may just need more fertilizer in the spring/summer, and possibly ammended soil. I ussally turn/loosen the soil around the outside of the clump and mix in nutrients, fertilizers, ect.
