I've grown it before. Is there anything in particular you want to know about it? Here are some more pictures for fun.

I've grown M. laterita for several years now because it is so easy to flower and I love the color. I usually give away tons of these each year because it offsets so readily, but I don't know about shipping to Amsterdam! You can't find them there?
By the way, that's my laterita as my Avatar.

I give my laterita no special protection. I've always grown it in the ground, until this year. It has always survived without any problems. I really had not considered it much, but it will be interesting to see how it overwinters in it's pot this year. We normally only down to 30-32 degrees a few times each winter here in the Houston area, so it should be OK.

You can find seeds of Musa laterita at several of the online seed dealers no problem. Getting them to sprout is another matter entirely! Out of 100 seeds, I have exactly ZERO germinated after 7 months.
As for hardiness, I would think zone 8b is about the limit, since it isn't hardy in zone 8a.

Easytropicals.com sold them this year as corms.
Don't know if they ship to NL or not,but it might be worth checking their site out as they normally stock plugs of other species for a decent price and they pack them very well.

Almost forgot to mention...when looking for it online, also keep an eye out for Musa ornata 'Bronze'. That and M. laterita are the same thing (although the latter is the correct name).

Daen,
Sure wish you were in the US, I'd sure set you up with some because I always have a buttload of pups! Laterita/ornata is about a common as dirt here. I feel like if you do a little more looking around you'll find it over there as well. Good luck with your search!

Hey bananaman:
Would it be possible for you to send a couple of them to Durham, NC? My zip is 27713 so you can let me know how much would the shipping be.
Thanks,
Carlos(tropicalkid in NC)
