I just planted a saba that is about 3 ft a month or so ago. It is now strarting to throw out leaf after leaf. I figure I should have pups by spring or summer. If you can wait until then I could send you one for a nominal charge. :06:

Is this question for me or Topher?
If you are asking me:
I will check the shipping costs. Have you had plants shipped before? Is there agricultural inspection issues?

You'll have to bring 'em in for the winter but I am going to wait until I get a good sized pup and try a sheltered spot in my yard over the winter of 2008 or 2009 (depending on when I have a good pup to try)... I'm not to far from you... I am in Z-7a Tulsa, OK... But they are supposed to be fairly hardy.

The ones I just got have been left in the ground over winter with little to know protection in Winston Salem. The clump was easily 18ft around plants got at least 22ft tall during a normal summer with help from horse manure.

No feelings hurt here either...I sell a few pups to accommodate members on the board and expand availability ( I have lost some species due to various things and it is comforting to know there are many sources available)..saves me from cutting them off at ground level and composting. I do not sell pups to make a profit..just recoup a small portion of the costs. I am never offended if someone selects another supplier over me. The mattes never quit producing......:)

MsKitty,
I will be more than happy to show you pics of my yard in 2003... All grass up to the concrete of the pool. Hey, with nanners, ee's, palms and the like, and a LOT of water, it is not that difficult. If I can do it, anyone can. Honestly, if you are ever down this way or have time to come down in the summer, you are more than welcome to come down and see it, and maybe take a couple pups, cuttings, or something home with you. Just let me know and I will be sure to be home...
Randy
As far as Sabas go, I was and still am amazed at the quailty corms Chris (rmplmnz), sent to me and a couple of others up this way. If you get some from him, I PROMISE, you will not be disappointed!!!
Take care,
Randy
This nanner thing is a little addictive, ain't it!!!

i appriciate the honesty. i understand the not wanting to cut them off at ground level, that would hurt my feeling having to do that.instead id have to find another pot, get the shovel, and go plant some in my mommas yard...no i dont think id do that, shed want me to take care of them. lol. i do understand. i check on mine like every hour that im home(and not in school). i just found out today when it was nana feeding time at the zoo, that my hcm has a pup growing off a pup.and i also found that my basjoo that i bought last sat. has a new leaf coming out that wasnt there yesterday. they change and grow so fast its almost scary. so i will let you know in jan. about the saba. and thank you again:2747:

Mskitty,
I trip up to Cumberland Co. Playhouse a couple times a year and it only takes about 1 1/2 hours. It is really not as far as you might think.
BTW, I do not have any daturas. All of mine are actually brugs. I currently have about 4-5 different ones, but am expanding my collection for next year. As a matter of fact, I have two different ones coming from Texas in the mail right now. They are from a great member of this board and is originally from close to my home town, Manchester, TN. I met her on this board and was blown away when she told me where she was from!!! Talking about a small world...
Come on down...
