Wilma roared through S FL on Monday. It came ashore in the AM about 30 miles S of Naples and went across the state and out near Ft Pierce.
We lost power about 8 AM Monday and it came back on last night. I'm just S of West Palm Beach in Lake Worth. At least we had county water through out and a cool front was behind the storm so no A/C wasn't a problem. I guess we're lucky, still over 500,000 in Palm Beach without power and they promise it will be back by Nov 8. OUCH.
Being in the eye of a hurricane is weird. All the neighbors were out in the calm looking at damage. About 30 minutes later, the other eye wall hit. Should have been the weaker side but it WASN'T. Lots worse. We lost a tall shade tree in the front yard and lots of damage in the area. BIG trees just toppled over, major limbs snapped off, etc.
Bananas fared OK. It blew over a newly planted Hua Moa and put several others at 45 degree angles. Shredded the leaves on all of them so now I have a yard full of sticks. BUT the darn things are already pushing up through the center.
I hope everyone else in S FL is doing OK but it might be a while before we hear from them. Marc, Media Hound and several others were also in the path. The eye was huge - 80 miles across so hurricane force winds covered several counties. From Miami up to West Palm. Marc probably took a good hit like we did and being in the country, might not have power for sometime. We had winds of over 100 mph here.
I hope everyone else out there is OK, check in when you get power and let us know.
