My name is Tom and I've been growing banana's as a part of my backyard landscaping. I wanted a little tropical look so I bought some frost hardy giant banana plants a few years ago. They're great looking. I don't know what kind they are but they're survive the mild winters here in North Carolina very nicely. The tops die off in any frost but the roots always come back. I have transplanted a few pups so they are now growing in two locations.

I looked into this forum because this year one of them fruited and I wondered what to do with the fruit. The banan's are tiny, about two inches, and we had a frost before the flower fully opened so I cut it and will hang it in the garage and wonder what to do with it (if anything) over the winter.

I'll post a few pictures as soon as I figure out how.

Regards,

Tom

Welcome Tom, I too am in NC (Charlotte). Just starting to get into the banana thing in North Carolina. I am from the West Indies though so I am not new to bananas.

Cheers, Tom
