Like some others, I am new to posting anything although I've read some threads in the past. I live on the Sunshine Coast which is just a 40 minute ferry ride outside of Vancouver, BC. Basically our climate is similar to Vancouver's but there are so many mini-climates here as the road twists and turns following the coast. The nearest I can figure, we are in Canadian zone
8b; I do not know what that works out to in the American zoning system. Today is the first day we worked our way down to frost but in 1995 we had frost as early as Nov 4th. In this area we may have frost for a day or two and then the rain warms it up for a couple of weeks, only to again have a few more degrees of frost for another few days. The ground is still warm that many people are planting spring bulbs.
I only have a few banana plants right now and have moved them into the cabin which has reasonable natural lighting supplemented by 12 hours of light from florescent growing lights. We keep the cabin at 60 degrees F. This is the first year I am trying the cabin so I'd appreciate suggestions.
