I will be ordering a few Mule palms from Moultrie Palms next spring. I inquired about ordering a quantity of seedlings to be shipped along with them. And they are available at a discount when ordering 20 or more.
I am considering buying these seedlings along with the one gallon palms and trading or selling the seedlings. My train of thought is that I can save some money on the bananas I want to get next year by trading for them here. And it also gives the members here a chance to grow this fast and cold hardy palm that is not available at most local nurseries.
So, I would like to get an idea if enough people here would be interested. They would sell for about $7 + shipping. And they would be available to trade for banana pups.

Never mine this post - I found their web site and learned what it is.
What the heck is a Mule Palm???
I used to collect palms and I've never heard this name before. You got a scientific name for it?

Terry,
A mule palm is so named because it is a sterile palm. It has been hybridized by combinig the Queen plam and the Butia. Suppose to be a fairly fast growing palm with hardiness to about 15F. Main reason for the creation of this palm is to give folks in colder climates a queen lookalike...
I know of a couple of folks in the Atlanta area with one and they love theirs...

My appologies to everyone. I contacted Moultrie Palms to order the seedlings and they informed me that they no longer ship them.

Robert,
Your website is fantastic! I have just begun to look into what kind of palms and cycads I can grow outdoors here. I only have one acre, and I already have 3 large sagos. What others would you recommend for my area?
If I come across some mule palms I'll let you know. I am going to continue to look for them. The prices on one gallon and larger (which can be shipped) from Moultrie are a little pricey. But I hear they sell very nice palms.

Nice of both of you guys to respond. Yes, I have well over a hundred varieties of cycads and many palms (many from New Guinea and the Comoro Islands). I do sell a lot of cycads(and many are my own hybrids)from China species of cycas as that is my expertise. But I'm not afraid to trade plants depending on the offer, so don't hesitate. I recently got into Agaves, Furcraea, yucca, and rare bananas.....also philodendrons, anthuriums, and other aroids. thanks, robert chumley chumleyrobert @hotmail.com

Actually you can get them. I sent Robbin 1000 of them almost 2 years ago as seedlings. His email is info@exoticlife.nl
Hope this helps. I know he should be able to ship to the U.K. He is located in the Netherlands.
