Jarred, thank you for this! It is very cool!... I was curious, however, are you going to add different rooms?, Such as tiki hut, general banana discussion, etc.

Great FEATURE, Jarred...
I do have one question, though, is the "Lounge" the only room? If not, how do you access other ones? I think this is a really great idea that will be a very helpful addition. Plus, what fun it should be to communicate live with one another...
Thanks for the rooms...

You guys are very welcome!
There may be a little bit of a learning curve with it till we all figure out how to use all the features, but regarding different rooms, we can have one or we can have more than one. Whatever you guys want.

Will we have the ability to create a "private" chat room to be able to speak one on one to someone without eveyone else seeing. Example being if you have someone that you want to do some swapping of plants with and not have everyone wanting in on it... Just a thought!?!?!

Yes, you can click anyones name in the chat and have a private message with them (you dont need a private room to have a private conversation). Come into the chat now since we're both online and we can practice.

Jarred,
Sorry I missed you. I am at work and having a rough day. Was able to see and talk to the "flying dutchman" when I was able to get in there for a few minutes. Thanks again for the additional venue to share info in...

Jarred,
Got another question for you. If I wanted to talk to someone that is on the board, is there anyway I could click on their name at the bottom of the page in the active users list and invite them into the chat room to speak to them live, instead of pm'ing them? Just wondering. Example, if I saw you were currently on the board and wanted to talk to you, how could I notify you that I wanted to talk with you?

You can send them a pager message.
Click their username to go to their profile page.
On the right side, you will see a link, something like this:
Send a pager message to (name)
That will make a window appear in front of them with your message, it was the closest thing we had to chat before this. It was faster than the PM because it was more "in your face" but it was one on one. You can read more about it here:

Jarred, Love the chatroom, but tonight it seemed to be lagging really bad. I thought it was me or my comp. but others were having problems too. Most people just ended up logging off. Just thought I'd let ya know. I'm sure there will be some bugs to work out but I figure you need the feedback to fix em. Thanx again on arranging such a great site!!!-NATE:08:

OK, I will investigate that, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Keep the feedback and suggestions coming!

Hopefully we can teach the chatroom voice recognition and maybe even teach it sign language one day by using your webcam.

That flash chat typically has lagging issues. Ive seen this very same flash chat used on other forums and every one has had lagging problems. I do think there's some "fixes" to help the problem though.

Thanks Whatever, and yep those fixes are being investigated!

I will update the thread when the improvements are installed.

OK I did some optimization tweaks to it.

Mainly, I enabled sockets support, and added that it remains running to the crontab.
I also changed 'maxMessageSize' from 500 to 100,
I changed 'maxMessageCount' from 100 to 50, and
I changed 'enableBots' to false.

This should greatly improve performance, please let me know if any issues arise.

OK well we've got a version mismatch on the sockets support

Module compiled with module API=20020429, debug=0, thread-safety=0
PHP compiled with module API=20050922, debug=0, thread-safety=0
These options need to match

For now, sockets is being disabled till we resolve that issue.

Anyway, the changes that still persist should still greatly improve performance, although there is still a level better that I'll be working to enable.

recalibrate the plasma injectors , realign the warp couplings and divert auxiliary power to the flux capacitor .

Thanks, Jarred, for all that you do !

We're working on the chatroom settings today, so if you cannot log in for the next few minutes / hour or so, no worries, try again later.

Could you make the message length longer again? 150, maybe 200? Its causing problems with links and such.

:)

OK, I've set it to 200. Cheers
