Here she was back in September, the tall plant with the bloom on the right (those on the left are IC's as well):

and I made the mistake of not supporting the pseudostem (doh!)...

I like your photos with your dog, Jarred. I always think he's "on guard", which is really appropriate in this shot. :)

Sorry for your loss Jarred...

I believe his shepherd is a female... anyway I wish my GSD would mind like that... he already dug and ate my only sikkimensis.

I've posted it before.....I would trade most of my pups for a "GSD" pup like that !
She is so neat .
The "guardian of the fruit"..LOL:doggyandnaner:

That way I could have someone to watch over my bananas and Wax Jambu Srinark Red !

Jarred,

My last Ice Cream did the same thing. I trimmed off the dead leaves and left it alone on the ground for over 2 months. The fruit started to turn yellow and I cut them off and they were all just fine. DON'T cut it down unless those fruit are at least 3 months old. Just leave it and as long as the trunk is still connected through the break, they should continue to receive nurishment and be OK.

I've had this happen 3 times on different bananas and they always do fine and ripen as if nothing changed.

That's worth knowing Terry! I am sure this will happen to most of us sooner or later, and it's good to know there is a chance of saving the fruit if it is well on.

If there is any continuity or connection left in the actual flower stem, leave it alone, and they will contnue to ripen. Moving it will probably break it the rest of the way through. If it is broken, hang the bunch in the shade and see what happens.

Still connected, laying there for about two weeks now.
:bunchonanas:

All the leaves turned yellow now though...

Yep, I think I ended up with just the bananas and NO leaves for the last month. BUT they finally turned yellow. That was my first bunch of IC and I LOVED them. My Red Iholene did the same thing and was fine.
