I process (ripen) bananas for a midwest wholesale produce company. We process approximately 40 to 45 thousand boxes of bananas weekly. We sell the bananas to retail grocery stores and other wholesalers. Most of our bananas come from Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica. I just came back from Honduras after visiting Dole's banana and pineapple farms. They don't charge enough for bananas and pineapples! Very labor intensive.

Hi and a very welcome, that is very interesting. When possible I buy
Fair-Trade bananas, they are not always in the store, but when they are
they are just a bit more expensive.
Actually I have noticed they are also significant shorter and less fat than the Dole's, don't know how come, probably another cultivar.

How about bananas from the Dominican Republic? (when we get our production up again after Noel!)
