Hello, in California trying to get help with a nursery in Texas. I looked at the map here at bananas.org already and sent a PM to another member, but many of the forum members don't have their location pinned on the map (hint!) and might be closer.
A friend of mine had already tried contacting this nursery by e-mail, etc., with no response. We read an article that they carried a pomegranate with fruit with a black skin. I'm wondering if anyone here could possibly help or know someone else that can help us.
Here is the contact information I have for the nursery:

956 N. Bowers Dr. (Hwy 84E)

If I'm really lucky, I'm hoping someone here might be passing buy and can swing by and pick up a plant for me and ship it to me (after getting paid by me, of course).
Thanks,
Harvey
P.S. If you would like to take a look at some recent pomegranate photographs I took as part of a little project, visit www.PurelyPoms.com/PhotoIndex.htm. Just a hobby for now.

so exactly how do you start your poms? i have like 50 seeds that i took out of one before i hoovered it. they are so good. i just dug the seeds out w/ a spoon (left the fruit on the seeds) and put them on a paper towel to dry. do you wash the seeds to get the fruit off,or leave it on? im starting pineapples tomorrow. have two little bananas going and i need poms to complete my " fruit salad". clueless in sparta!:2756:

I suggest eating the fruit and spitting out the seeds if you have a small quantity like that. No sense in wasting the fruit anyways and I think spoilage is more likely to be a problem with the fruit of the aril still intact.
When I did a large quantity for a special project I put arils into a blender (I put duct tape on the blades of the blender) and put in lot of water and that chopped up the flesh of the arils well so that seed separation was easy. They seem to store well, though I have limited experience with that. I started seeds last winter in Jiffy pots and then transplanted them into larger pots and they grew well.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. Yes, I dried the seeds for a few days. Last winter I had the Jiffy pots on propagation mats and most germinated within a week. I have seen no pest or disease problems at all. The only death loss I experienced was due to neglect. Enjoy your replacement pom! Do you know what variety it is?

got my new pom. yummy yummy. i washed the seed and got all the fruit off them. i put them on a paper towel to dry. when you first open the pom you would think the seeds are huge. then you get down to the actual seed and its quite little. will plant them in a day or two. hopefully in a couple of weeks ill have new babies. keep your fingers crossed. thank you for the info. it was helpful.:D
