I thought all these names refered to the same plant. Musa acumanata 'Zebrina' and musa sumatrana 'Rojo' are two different bananas?

All of the names in the trade are mixed up and its nearly impossible to say what is truly correct without growing it out and flowering it. For the common "blood bananas", there are 2 types generally are there, Musa acuminata subsp. zebrina (with green) fruit and Musa acuminata subsp. sumatrana (with red fruit). I have seen both so I know both are out there, but its impossible to tell what you actually have until you flower it as they are extremely similar. All of the cultivar names are just for show, they really are not necessary as they already have vaild, published species names.

:2726: Thanks Gabe15, now I know why my zebrina was given a silly name of Dragon Blood banana. I have never heard or seen the name Dragon used before with bananas, just other plants.
