Hallo to everybody, my name is Emanuele, I live in Italy, near Florence, and of course I'm in love with bananas.
I discovered this site some weeks ago and now it's my lightouse about bananas.
I've learned a lot of things but I' know it is only the beginning.
Our climate is warm enough to grow bananas outside without protection but the leaves sometimes suffer or die, while the pseudostem always resist our mild winters, usually without snow and with temperatures that seldom fall below -3°C (in the city).
My dream is to be able to grow the first edible banana in my city, and I hope you will help me.:chefnaner:
Thanks and a big CIAO to everybody from Emanuele. :hiiiiyanana:

Hi Erlend, thanks for your suggestion. Here the season is ending, and everytingh is put off to march/april.
Now I have a sikkimensis, ensete ventricosum maurelii and a generic musa paradisiaca (??), sold me as edible by the seller.
The biggest problem I have is finding good varieties here in Italy, and it's almost impossible to buy something in the U.S.
Where can I find a good european site to buy the best varieties?
Thanks and best regards.:pinwheelnaner:

Actually, the UK is the best place in europe to buy banana-cultivars at the moment. Try Easy Tropicals, Mulu, KoKoba, or Jungle Seeds
