Hi guys , my first Musa flower ever . I think it's an African Red that I got from Gabe in the Spring , but I could have mixed up labels , so not sure. It has a little fuzz on it like Velutina.

Plus pics of lots of pots of stuff . I think I've done ok considering we arrived in the US in January and all the plants were small divisions in the late Spring this year. I just wish I could display them better or get them in the ground.

Thalia genticulata 'Red Stem has done great this year , big pot full of clay soil and water seems to have done the trick. This plant was from a tiny 8 inch tall starter plant in the Spring.

I did not know Thalia genticulata 'Red Stem got that big! Have you had any problems with rust?

Thanks for the replies guys , I'm pretty happy with the results this year. I hope to have some fruit next year maybe.
The red Thalia has had no problems with rust , just a small amount of damage from Japanese Beetle . Not many people grow it in this area because of the over wintering indoors/greenhouse so I guess I lucked out and have healthy stock. I have two colours , one is pink/red and the other is red/dark purple. All the thalia are in flower at the moment but there seems to be no pollonating insects about so I guess I'll get no seeds. The pot in the pic has two plants in it so . I'll get a stem and flower pic tomorrow.

Thanks Gabe I was a bit worried, I know you sent those great metal labels with the plants but I'm not great at keeping things in the right place. I'm really pleased and surprised it's only taken 5 or 6 months to get a flower. Royal Purple you sent has three flowering size stems and is about to flower too. I guess once the flower goes I can try and propagate from the corm. Is there anything I can do to fertilize the single flower on African Red so I can get seeds ? Seems a shame to cut open the male part of the flower to get pollon but I'll do it if that's what is needed.
Thanks
Steve

Thanks Randy, as with all things if I get it throught the winter I'm happy to send you both colour variations. If it gets throught I will have way more divisions than I can grow so I'll just send some. We can trade if you like or I'll just give you the spares , always happy to give plants to someone who admires them it's kind of payback as the UK/Europe guys got me started when I had nothing and zero cash for plants. You guys have been very good to me here too , could not have done it without you all .

Do you use a dolly or brute strength to move all of those! :)

Frank , I move by hand all the pots when I mow the lawn , that includes the big pots with the Water Lilies in. But I'm going to weld up a Dolly for next year as 25 gallon pots maybe a bit much for this old man.
