I have two large Ensete Maurelii, one in 13 feet tall. I seem to remember pictures of someone digging them up letting them dry for 3 days and then putting them in a cool dry place. Can anyone confrim or add to this?
Thanks in advance

Topher,
I take mine, dig em up, chop the leaves, wash off the roots, let em dry for a few days, and put em under my house. :2239:

This post comes at a perfect time. I just dug up most of my ensete maurelli's today and I was really concerned that I was doing the wrong thing. It's good to hear that someone else is using this method. I sure hope it works. I'd hate to lose these plants they were my favorite this summer.
Anyone else use this method successfully with Ensete Maurelli's? What about musella lasiocarpa?

Gentlemen,
I just found the link I was looking for

I think that leaving the leaves on may help over the winter. Any thoughts?

Ron,
Yes that looks good for Musa's but what about Ensete?

Hey!!!
I have done the same as Natedog... They go under the house.. Temps stay 54*~56* yr round.. The only problem I had was the additional growth was blanched and had to be cut back.. but didn't have an adverse effect on the plant.. it is big and beautiful . The others that wintered over under the house really didn't put on much growth at all...Best of Luck!!!
