It may sound weird to you, but when I was a kid I always liked to play at a park near the front of my house. On that park there were lots of banana plants(I still remember people talking they were "manzano" variety). I remember that besides the banana plants there were these particular post-mounted street lamps that were used of course to light-up the pathways in the park at night. They looked really cool hidden between the banana plants along the side of the pathways. After they got old they got replaced by the more modern arm type lamps.
The thing is that I will try to reproduce the same sight seeing on my yard. I have tried to find these post-mount street lamps with no-luck so far. I have tried local electric/lamp/hardware shops, e-bay, in order to see if I can get the manufacturer or model, and still nothing. While in Troy, MI I was able to locate three of them on a public parking lot from a restaurant. They are still being in use, so they won't sell them to me. I managed to take pictures though, so if anyone can find some of these hanging around on their basement, or know a place where to find them, please let me know.
I will try to post the pictures of the lamp here, if not I'll probably post them in my gallery.

Thanks,
Carlos(tropicalkid)

Went to my mailbox today to check the mail.
There was a big chunk of one of my oak trees laying on the sidewalk.
It had a nice clean saw cut...
I look up to find out what was going on,
turns out it was the power company had cut it away from the streetlamp.
Guess what?
Same lamp like in this picture

btw, I searched around on froogle and couldn't find any of these up for sale.
Surely you can find them if you keep seeking far and wide...

Please send me a picture of the setting around your street side with these lamps when you get a chance.I think they're pretty decorative elements when combined with banana plants or big trees like your Oaks.
Thanks,

Another angle, pine tree coming soon (see it in the pot leaning on the base of the pole?). Here you also see a newly planted queen palm, those Alocasias we were talking about in another thread today, you cannot see the 50lb banana corm I planted yesterday between the pole and the queen palm, so an updated photo will be necessary.

They look like yours, Carlos, but indeed, they are not identical. :kiteflyingnanergif:

Not sure if you are still actively looking for the street lamps but have you thought about contacting your City's Department that handles street lights and asking them about the source? I would think that anywhere they are still in use someone would have to have info on ordering bulbs for them, in which case the bulb manufacturer may be able to direct you to the manufacturer.

BTW I've never seen anything like them. They are kind of cool and understated.

If you're into Antoni Gaudí then this lamp might be a decent compromise. Look at #110 on this page:

This is the closest I carry in my grill line from MHP, they are gas or electric

http://www.mhpgrills.com/lamps/alumla.html

and Coleman makes a patio heater with a light built in

Good luck

TropicalKid,

I think I may be able to get one... I run a outdoor living/home decor business and while I know I don't carry them in my product lineup I think I saw one similar on my wholesale product sheet that came through the other day... if I can find it again I will send you a pic and a price.

**Follow up**
I found these 2... the one on my wholesale list is nothing like what you are looking for but I haven't even scratched the surface on the postmount lights offered by this (http://www.bellacor.com/results.cfm?Cat=56&Page=1) website... good luck in your search.

This thread is old but if anyone needed to get some vintage lighting, this site offers some pretty cool stuff. It's in Titusville, FL,

"The Original Barn Light", Rustic Lighting, Wall Sconces, Pendant Lighting, Chandeliers, Post Lights, Ceiling Fans | BarnLightElectric.com (http://www.barnlightelectric.com/)

I would call the city (and surrounding communities) and inquire to them about it. Either asking where they buy them from or asking them to get in contact with you if they are replacing any of the older style with newer ones (so you can buy the old one off them). When they replace em, they probably throw them away anyway or recycle them or something, so you might be able to find one for a great deal that way.
