In a greenhouse, of course! 60'x20' heated/cooled/irrigated greenhouse with 220 growing banana plants: Williams, Namwah, Cavendish all dwarf. I'll post pictures in the future.

I would like to say "Thanks" to everyone who contributes to this forum. All the info on this site is greatly appreciated and well received.

Many thanks,
It's been a 2 year project with to many lessons learned. I will post pics when my kids show me how, or do it for me.

Nice looking plants! Looks like you have it attached to your house, great idea. When I was a kid we had one attached to our house in Thompson River Montana (zone 4 just east of Libby), and we got tomatoes year round.

Thanks, It's attached to the west side of my shop/barn. I've been working on the idea for a couple of years.

Are you growing for fun, fruit, or to sell the plants? Hopefully I'll be able to get something like that going over here in Montana. I went to a local nursery a couple days ago, and he said he shells out around $3,200 per winter in natural gas for his one giant greenhouse. I think I'd probally be cutting firewood to heat one if I get that far.
There are these big hot mudd pits in Hot Springs MT just south of me, that aren't used for anything just fenced off from cattle. I've been daydreaming about putting a greenhouse on top of one of those and not paying a cent for heating.

I sell the plants at local markets, more or less a hobby for me. I grow a winter garden in it also.

Free heat would be nice.

A tomato grower I know uses free waste oil for heat. He has a 1/2 acre greenhouse. He burns around 12,000 gallons of waste oil a year.
