I know that it is a Cavendish... but I am not sure if it is DC or HCM. When I got it is was about 5" and growing in a coconut cut in half ( you take what you can get in Canada ). I thought at the time it would be a DC because it had very faint markings, and pseudostem was only as thick as the end of my thumb. But as soon as I potted it got very dark markings and they seen to stay. The lower leaves in the picture were the top set of leaves when planting. The pseudostem has also got some girth to it now, I can just nicely wrap my hand around it and touch fingertips. For a size reference it is in a 12" pot and stands to about my hip, pseudostem would be about 15"-18".

I've seen the Super Dwarf Cavendish sold like that,in a coconut. I believe they get around 2ft tall max. If it goes past that then it's a regular D.C.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing as it is pushing out pups and it is only two months old. I want a banana that will grow bigger for my bay window in the winter. It is just too damn hard to find anything but SDC around here.

ya it looks like SDC, but it can get larger than 2ft depending on growing conditions. I have commonly seen them at about 3ft pseudostem with another 2ft or so of leaves on top.
