I'll soon have plenty of Raja Puri fruit from this plant:

http://www.bananas.org/showthread.php?t=2502

Post here if you would like some fingers sent to you when they are ready.
Followup your post with a private message with your address and please include a phone number as well.

They're $2 each + $9 shipping.

It's a great way to taste the plants that are on your wish list before you go through the hassle of acquiring the plant and waiting for the fruit yourself.

I need you to post how many you want here in the thread and PM me your address and a number in case I need to reach you.
When they are ready I will ship them out and invoice you.

And if you like them, why not get on my list for a clone of the mother plant :)
Please indicate in your PM if you would like a plant as well when those are ready (they will be shipped seperately and at a later date).

Enjoy!

OMGosh! I can't believe I forgot about these. They arrived today, and soooo tasty! I offered a bite from a finger (the Raja's, not mine) LOL! - to my Moluccan Cockatoo, who is quite picky. He took a tiny taste. Then another. Then he tried to grab the whole thing out of my hand!

Thanks, Jarred!

(Did I pay for this already?)

Glad to hear Anna, yep you did, no worries!

The RajaPuri taste great and have a thick peel so they have a decent shelf life too!

I was nice and shared one with a friend today. :) She loved it!
Charlie (Cockatoo) saw her eating it and got very upset. So I got another to share with him and offered him a bite. He didn't want to give it up. It's hard to argue with a beak that has 200 lbs. of pressure in it. LOL!
I so hope my two Raja's do well this winter. They were tiny little guys last "real winter". But they are growing strong.

I'm glad they taste so well. I'm getting a Raja Puri this spring.

If anyone ever gets any Ice Cream bananas, please let me know. I've always wanted to try this one. Thanks.

I have some IC hanging now, will let you know when they are ready to ship.
I also have a RajaPuri pup right now that I can cut if you want Rare Bananas (http://www.rarebananas.com)
Pot it up and keep it inside with a lamp.. just a suggestion. I realize the weather is not really ready for you to be obtaining plants right now... anyway I will let you know about the Ice Cream.

Musa sp. 'Ice Cream' 'Blue Java'

A great banana for many reasons. Many consider this the best tasting of all bananas and compare its flavor to that vanilla custard or ice cream. The skins are an odd, silvery-blue sheen and ripen to a pale canary-yellow color. A bit tall, but otherwise well suited to the home garden and the greenhouse. May be a bit large for containers. A very popular banana variety.

Hi all,
My Orinoco is fruiting, 20 days in. All of a sudden we've cooled down to 70's, had wind, rain and a little hail.

How can I protect the cluster as it grows??
