Hello Everyone!
What kind of photos and Information is needed to Identify a Banana species.
I have never determined what species of banana plant I have been growing. I have multiplied the plant to over over the last 10 years and have at least 85 growing at the moment; The plant Gets tall up to 20 foot here in north Texas, the plant is tought it will come back from the roots even after extreme cold winters lows close to zero; The trunk gets up to 10 inches in diameter in some years all the baby plants are attached real close to the mother plants root. it does not send out runners, the bananas do not have seeds and taste slightly sweet appears to be some kind of plaintain type but I am not sure, it blooms in multi colored flowers with shades of pink white and purple. I have several that will flower this year, it takes more than 18 months of growing here to get to flower stage. Any information would be appreciated, pictures to follow, for additional pictures see my gallery.

Looks like a whole lot of happy 'Orinoco' bananas to me! That is probably the most common banana in Texas (and most everywhere else in the South also). It is very cold-hardy, coming back for me here in Knoxville, TN. I've seen pictures of old mats in Memphis that were loaded with fruit, so North Texas certainly isn't out of the question. Wish I had some of that fertile, Texas soil! Nice pics.

Thanks for the imput Frank; I had thought it might be a musa Orinoco but mine never bloom with the really dark purple out side to the bud that I see in pictures on the internet, mine are always more green on the outside and seem to get larger than what I have read in discriptions- maybe my sand here is lacking some kind of nutrient that keeps them from being purple -again thanks!
