My poor plants are really getting the treatment today. The day started out with an earthquake.
It was already 100 here at 10:30-ish. It's after 6 and STILL in the 100's. The banana leaves are rather "crispy". Then a storm blew through this afternoon with winds so strong my potted plants were blowing over. Now the banana leaves are crispy and tattered. At least it could have rained like it did a couple of miles from here!
Sorry, just venting a bit. LOL!

HAHAHA!!! It was only 110F here today Anna. HAHA!! I've been watering 2 times a day,and 1 at night. A few crispy new leaves, but all is well. My Heliconias are loving it!! Course with plenty of water.:2730:

We just got a reminder from our HOA to conserve water. Yeah, right. They obviously don't have bananas. :)
LOL!!! I decided to try the egg on the concrete experiment yesterday to see if it would really cook. It did! :chefnaner:

Did you feel the quake over there? I was mowing the lawn, so I didn't. But my husband came out and said it was quite a jolt.

Good luck. We are baking too although not as hot as you. Theres an article in the local paper about how the drought is killing lots of the Japanese Maples in the area. I lost 4 blueberry plants I put this spring.

I hit 104 today.

OMGosh! And I thought it was bad last year when I was there! :07: :07: :07:

I did a new watering thing today. Turned the auto sprinklers on for 3 minutes each. Then ran them every hour or so. Just to "mist".
When it hit 109, I went out out did a slow drip to the bananas.

I went to the grocery store not more than 4-5 miles away this afernoon. It totally POURED so hard that I thought their roof might cave in!
All we got here was strong wind,.

Things have been starting to cool down here in NJ quite a bit recently, and its been feeling very much like fall. Today and for the next few days the temperature is up a bit however.

I sure hope your heatwave moves this way, since I really need an extra week or two of summer!

Hello and how are you all doing?I hope all is well with everybody and there Banana's.Between the heat and now a earthquake. This is not what we need here in California. The heat & humidity has been ok with my banana's not burning yet.I have been making sure that they are kept hydrated just like me.Take care and hope this heatwave passes by us soon. The weather people on the news out here say we should be getting cooler this week.

Talk with you all later gotta leave work and go home to water my Banana's,

For what it's worth, here near Sacramento we're not going to even hit 90F today! A lot better than the 104F a few days ago.
