Hi,
Last year I bought an Ensete Glaucum from a UK nursery.
But I'm not convinced it is one.
So could I have an opinion of what it may be out of you knowlegable Lads and Ladies please?

It's definetly not Ensete glaucum. It has some M. balbisiana qualities but it can be difficult somtimes to detirmine much without a flower.

I just read my post on UKO and it does read funny.
What I meant was as I thought it was an ensete,I wasn't expecting it to pup.
But as its a Balbisiana why hasn't it pupped?
I think I've also answered that myself too,as its next to a Bamboo that I don't water too much maybe its experiencing a bit of drought. My Sikkis haven't sent any new pups up yet this year either, but they do get watered lots.Maybe I'm just used to my Basjoo which pups like crazy. Most of the other bananas I've got are new to me this year, ever since joining UK oasis in fact.I'm probably not the first to blame my addiction on this site though lol.
and I definately won't be the last.

All banana species pup differently, yours is still a somewhat juvenile plant, its not mature at all yet. Some species (such as basjoo) pup early and often, and other take their time. And just because a Musa can pup, it doesnt mean it has to. If it has unfavorable pupping conditions then it may not pup, or pup rarely. In a few cases I have had bananas flower in containers without ever sending up pups until after the flowering cycle was finished.

ps- I said it has some balbisiana qualities about it, I'm not identifying it as balbisiana. You will have to wait for a flower for an ID.

That would make sense, its definately not had favourable conditions this summer thats for sure. We've had such variable weather here, mostly wet and quite cool at times, especially the previous month or so.Its got alot better in the last week,we've even seen the sun a few times lol,but temps are barely reaching over 20C except the odd day.
