I'm kind of on a Mission to get more people growing great Pond plants.
Most of these hybrids are only available in the US

Beautiful Steve, and if I could choose one I would go for the Moonbeam.

Hi Ron , Moonbeam is a stunner , it looks best the first day as you get the pale blue tips and the change to yellow in the middle. James Knock is thinking of getting some in for the UK, perhaps if you emailed him he could order one for you , James is a UKOasis member and his email will be in the memebers list.
The Sun here is a little too strong for Moonbeam to keep it's best colour for the full three day opening cycle. James thinks it with look even better in Europe with less intense Sunlight.

I have Foxfire, but my lotus really steal the show. The seedlings from Bali Red are as good as the parent. Check it out at:http://togofcoralgables.com/FlowersofAug07.aspx
My biggest job is to get my N. gigantea (Australian native water lilies) to blooming size. I have clones in blue, pink, and white.

Great pics , I must get a better camera , I just use my cheap video camera.
I've not tried the Oz Water Lilies yet , I've seen them growing in Queeensland.
I understand they are hard to grow outside Australia. I'm up for trading water plants late next Spring when I know what I have spare . Do you grow the Red Thalia ?
Also if anyone knows how to get hold of very cheap large tubs for growing Water Lilies please let me know. I grow all my Water Lilies in tubs 2 ft 6 in wide , some direct in soil some in small pots. Great to have access to the Kirk Strawn and Craig Presnell hybrids here in the US.

Thanks for sharing.

I'd love to try plants like that, but never have because I figure I'd be creating a haven for mosquitos. Have you guys noticed increased insect life due to your water plants?

I use Mosquito Dunks they work very well , but they need to be used more often than the packet says , perhaps because we also have the Tiger Mosquito here.

Steve I don't grow Red Thalia, only water lilies and lotus, oh! some hedwigia. Someone in the Bahamas is flowering a blue gigantea, and we email our progress. I use the tubs (2 ft 6 in wide), What do you pay for them?
Joe my pool has a population of fish that enjoy mosquitoes. The pots have polliwogs. I grow bromiliads and they probably produce most of the mosquitoes in my garden.

Thanks Steve and Jordan - Two good ways to consider keeping them at bay! I can seriously consider trying something with water in the spring now!

I got my tubs in France and I payed five dollars each for them .It took me four years to stumble across them so cheap. Where do you source yours ?
I only have 13 tubs here I could do with about ten more.
I got my 10 gallon containers for the Musa from Amazon , I'll get some 25 gallon for next years growth. I guess I should get some 15 gallon for the medium to small Musa.
Jordan I have two different colours of Red Thalia here at the moment , one is pink to red in the stem the other is red to purple. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.
